Program Content

The introductory diving program (Intro diving) is open to everyone who visits Hurghada and is interested in scuba diving. What is intro diving? It is scuba diving for beginners. No previous scuba diving experience is necessary and it is the best way to try scuba diving, before committing to a learn to PADI Open Water Diving course. The intro diving program allows you to scuba dive underwater, a great way to explore the underwater world of the Red Sea. Intro diving is also known as DSD (Discover Scuba Diving), because it is the first diving experience. On the diving boat, we will begin theoretical training. When safety and equipment briefings are complete, diving instructors will give an overview of the general knowledge of scuba diving, including some practical demonstrations on the basic skills you’ll need to complete when in the water.

On arrival at the first dive site, you will receive a wetsuit, and staff will show you how to put on your scuba gear and enter the water. Your diving instructor will be with you all the time. After entering the water, they will ensure you are comfortable and the mask is properly fitted. When ready, you can dive with a diving instructor to 1 meter underwater. Here stop, so you can practice breathing through the regulator and the practice of equalizing presure in the ears. You will practice your skills before taking a 20-minute dive with your instructor to explore spectacular coral reefs.. During the program Intro diving, the instructor will always monitor your depth, air supply, buoyancy, and comfort level. Intro diving program it is 2 dives around 20 minutes on maximum depth 7-8 meters. The diving instructor will take you in a group of no more than 2 introductory divers. Frequently Asked Questions

I'VE LOST MY LOGBOOK, CAN I STILL DIVE WITH YOU?

Yes, providing you prove you’re a diver. We may require you to do a check dive or scuba review before your arrival or on your first day depending on your level, how many dives you think you have and when your last dive was.

I'VE LOST MY CERTIFICATION CARD; CAN I STILL DIVE WITH YOU?

If you are a PADI or SSI diver, we may be able to check their computer database online, but please make every effort to get a replacement before you travel.

WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM DEPTH I CAN DIVE TO?

Our guides will guide to 30m on recreational dives or to the limit of your diving qualification. If you have a deep spec say 40m, you have a buddy of equal level and can show your insurance allows you to dive to this depth, then CDWS allows diving to 40m. Technical diving has different rules. Your maximum diving depth will depend on your training and experience level. It is your responsibility to check what depths your insurance policy covers you for before your arrival.

DO I HAVE TO BE A GOOD SWIMMER TO SCUBA DIVE?

Some swimming ability is required. You need to have basic swim skills and be able to comfortably maintain yourself in the water. Float and tread water for 10 minutes, again using any methods you want.

WHAT IS THE BEST TIME OF YEAR TO DIVE?

The Red Sea offers all year-round sunshine with little or no rainfall. From the 2nd week of November to the end of March temperatures are cooler and there can be strong winds; however, guests have commented that they prefer this time of year as the boats and the dive sites are quiet. April to June, look out for manta and the occasional whale shark; summer has lots of shoaling fish, barracuda, trevallies, snapper, and batfish. Water temperatures are lovely; however, the air temperature can be very hot. September through to the first two weeks of November the air temperature is beautiful and the waters are warm from the summer heat. Marine sightings will vary depending on which dive resort you are staying at.
